Privacy Policy – Tickspend

Effective date: 17 October 2026

Tickspend ("the app"), a receipt scanner and expense tracker, is published by appdroidapps, an individual developer ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your receipt photos and your data. The short version: photos are sent to a cloud model to read them, are not stored by us, and the results stay on your device.

1. Receipt photos

When you scan a receipt, the app compresses the photo, removes photo metadata (such as location) on your device, and sends the image to our server (hosted on Amazon Web Services). Our server forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API, which reads the receipt and returns structured text: merchant, date, totals, tax and line items. Our server does not save the image or the result. It returns the result to the app and discards it. Anthropic processes the image to provide the service under its commercial API terms; we do not allow it to be used for training.

2. Data stored on your device

The extracted expense data, your categories, reports and any receipt images you choose to keep are stored only on your device. There is no account and no login. We cannot see your expenses. Exports (CSV, PDF, backup file) go only where you send them.

3. Anonymous install identifier

On first launch the app creates a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email or Google account. Our server uses it to count free scans and to apply fair-use limits for Pro, and RevenueCat uses it to check your purchase. It is stored on our server together with scan counts and timestamps only.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

Pro is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; we never see your payment details. RevenueCat receives the anonymous identifier, the purchase token and basic device information. Manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions.

5. Analytics and crash reports (planned)

We plan to use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand usage and fix crashes. They collect anonymous usage events, device model, OS version, app version, country and crash traces, never the content of your receipts.

6. What we do not do

7. Permissions

Camera and photo access are requested only when you scan or import a receipt. Notification permission is requested only if you turn on reminders. You may refuse; the feature is then unavailable.

8. Data deletion

Uninstalling the app deletes all app data from your device. To delete the anonymous identifier and its scan counts from our server and from RevenueCat, email us the identifier shown under Settings → About; we will complete the request within 30 days. Receipt images are never retained by us, so there is nothing further to delete.

9. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Your expense data is only on your device, so most rights are exercised directly in the app. For the server-side scan counts and the data held by RevenueCat or Firebase, email us and we will respond within 30 days. Our legal basis is performance of the service you requested (scanning), our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and fixing crashes, and the contract when you buy Pro.

10. Your rights (CCPA/CPRA, California)

We do not sell or share personal information and do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You have the right to know, delete and correct, and not to be discriminated against. Email us; we will verify requests using the anonymous identifier and respond within 45 days.

11. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data and we will delete it.

12. International transfers

Our server, Anthropic, RevenueCat and Google may process data in the United States and other countries under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

13. Changes

Changes are posted here with a new effective date and noted in the app's release notes.
